Main workstation, in use since 2017 as a successor to carbon. The SSD lacks a DRAM cache, instead usig HMB (host memory buffer), but so far that doesn't seem to be a problem.

Accessories

  • Input: Lenovo Slim USB Keyboard – I bought a bunch of them back when they were still cheap, and am now dreading the day when the last of them has broken and I'll need to switch to something else.
  • Input: Wacom CTL-472-N M (“One by Wacom Medium”) – great for drawing onto virtual presentation screens and annotating / grading student submissions with PDF annotations in okular. Works out of the box on my Linux machines.

Medion MS-7728 (carbon)

  • To be filled by O.E.M.
  • Screen: 23" 1920×1080

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 530
  • RAM: 8 GiB (2× 4 GiB 1333 MHz DDR3 DIMM)

Main workstation from 2012 to 2017. It was still doing fine, but as I moved into a flat with a pretty small working space (just 4m²) I decided to switch to a mini PC instead.
